Wales Festival of Seaweed

Our partners

Wales Festival of Seaweed was founded by two St Davids based businesses inspired by Seaweed and wanting to celebrate this with the rest of the world. Bringing together lots of businesses and individuals already working with this amazing marine algae and allowing others to explore what it can really do.

Wales Festival of Seaweed has since been made possible thanks to players of the National Lottery as part of the 'unlocking the power of Seaweed' project in partnership with WWF UK, Câr-y-Môr SAMS and PEBL.

A 3-year project, funded by  The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to unlock the power of seaweed. Seaweed is a hidden hero for people and nature and could urgently help address the climate crisis.

The funding will allow WWF-UK and partners to work with coastal communities in Pembrokeshire to develop a model of community-led regenerative seaweed farming and support the scale-up of a sustainable, responsible UK-wide industry that benefits local communities, nature and climate.

After a successful first year in 2024, we have partnered also with Pobl Tir Môr who will now host Saundersfoot Seafest (our sister festival!) based in Saunderstfoot in July 2026
